A History lesson from Gary Brace

Year 10 and key stage 5 history pupils had a talk and Q&A session with Gary Brace, the first Executive of the General Teaching Council for Wales and former Vice Chair of the UK National Commission  for UNESCO on how studying history prepared him for his career. During his introduction he showed our pupils how the skills he learnt in history were applicable to his future career. He explained how it taught him to think critically, made him more politically involved and gave him perspective on international relations, which all helped him with his contributions to UNESCO and Council for Europe. The pupils asked some excellent questions about what historical topics interested him most, how he became interested in history and how teaching history was impacted globally by conflict.

We are very grateful to Speakers4Schools for providing our pupils with this opportunity.
