21st Century Schools Funding
The Council has included Whitmore High School as part of its 21st Century Schools Programme. The proposal is to build a new school on the current site that would open in September 2021. The project is reliant no obtaining 50/50 of funding from Welsh Government.
On the 10th November 2017 the Welsh Government announced that it was committed to supporting all of the projects proposed by local authorities, totalling £2.3bn of projects. This is subject to the approval of the full business cases for each individual project.
The Council is working closely with Welsh Government to secure the funding and will be looking to appoint a contractor in the autumn.
